Publication by Prof. Vogel (Rbiotics): Species-specific programmable RNA antibiotics

We would like to congratulate Prof. Jörg Vogel, project leader of the bayresq.net subproject Rbiotics, to this year’s first publication. The paper “An RNA biology perspective on species-specific programmable RNA antibiotics“ was published in the journal Molecular Microbiology and is available for download here.

Our body is populated by a whole range of bacteria, the intestine alone is home to over 1000 different bacterial species. Programmable RNA antibiotics in the form of short antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) allow to precisely manipulate the bacterial composition. How these ASOs can accelerate the development of programmable RNA antibiotics for microbiome editing and other implementations is explained by Prof. Vögel in his publication.
